Peggy Hewitt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 7, 2025 at the age of 87. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 7, 1937, to the late Earl and Polly Ann (Buck) O’Neal. A devoted housewife and an avid tennis player, Peggy brought energy and determination to everything she did—on and off the court. She volunteered at numerous charities including Home of the Innocents and Zoofari. A proud and devout Christian, she shared her deep faith with others by teaching Bible study for many years, touching countless lives with her wisdom, compassion, and spiritual guidance.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Weldon Hewitt, with whom she built a life centered on love, faith, and family.
Peggy is survived by her children, Curtis Hewitt (Debbie), Charlotte Snider (Jim), and Kathleen Dixon (Dave); her cherished grandchildren, Megan, Amy, Josh, Ashley, Rachel, and Ryan; and six great-grandchildren, Audrey, Benton, Kelsey, Kaden, Taran, and Jackson, who brought her endless joy. She also leaves behind her dear siblings; sisters, Judy Thornton and Priscilla Smith; and brother, Charles Venn; and a host of relatives and friends.
Peggy will be remembered for her strength, her faith, and her loving spirit. Her dedication to her family, her community, and to God leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
