In Loving Memory of Peggy Cotten Martin, 88, of Pampa, passed peacefully on August 12, 2025 in Pampa.

A celebration of her life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Briarwood Church, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable woman she was. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the funeral home. May her legacy of love, faith, and compassion live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Peggy Cotten Martin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith. Born on February 22, 1937, to Mattie and Noble Cotten, Peggy grew up with a deep love for family and a passion for life. She excelled in athletics, playing both volleyball and softball, and proudly participated in the Pampa High School band, where her baton twirling uniform was honored and placed on display at the Pampa Hall of Fame—a testament to her dedication and excellence.

On May 6, 1955, she married the love of her life, Joe David Martin. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience. As newlyweds, they faced financial hardships, even pawning household items to make ends meet, but their bond remained steadfast. Their love story endured over 66 years, a remarkable testament to their devotion to one another.

A lifelong worker and an exceptional cook, Peggy found joy in serving others, especially her family. Her talents in the kitchen were unmatched, and her kindness knew no bounds. She was a giver in every sense, always offering a helping hand to those in need. Her love for music shone brightly, and she found solace in singing—her favorite hymn, “This Little Light of Mine,” being a reflection of the radiance she carried within her heart.

Peggy’s greatest loves were her faith and her family. She adored her two sons, Ricky and Gary, and found immeasurable joy in her three grandchildren; Wes Martin, Payton Baird Martin, and the late Dr. Jed Martin, whose passing in 2020 was a deep sorrow. She is also survived by Jed’s wife, Dr. Lindsey Denison Martin, and her two great-grandchildren, Tober and Livi Martin. She so loved her two daughters-in-law, Jana and Angie. She cherished her sisters, Lou Dean Cotten and Sandra Shouse, and held dear the countless friendships and connections she nurtured throughout her life.

Though her passing leaves an irreplaceable void, the reunion between Peggy and her beloved Joe and grandson Jed in eternity is a beautiful comfort. Her love for Christ Jesus was her guiding light, and now she rests in His eternal embrace. Peggy’s beauty radiated from the inside out. She was a woman of extraordinary faith, boundless kindness, and unwavering love. Her presence in this world was truly a blessing, and she will be dearly missed.
