Rodney Phil “Fuzz” Edwards was born on February 22, 1959, in Amarillo to Elmer Edwards and Glenda Shelley. He grew up in Amarillo and graduated high school from Amarillo High School. After high school, Fuzz joined the family business, Edwards Refrigeration and he worked in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning industry for several years. At a chance business prospect, Fuzz would purchase Amarillo Slim’s Pool Palace in 1989. This opportunity set the stage to meet many hundreds of people; some becoming loyal customers who turned into friends and even some that became family.
Although Fuzz was a proud and successful business owner, his pride in being a father and grandfather was his crowning achievement. He welcomed his first son, Phillip in 1990, and he would become a proud dad again when Ryan was born in 1999. Fuzz also loved being a son, brother, and a friend to many. There are countless activities that kept him busy, he liked to travel to many different places, but the beaches and especially in Cozumel, held a special place in his heart. Playing golf with his buddies, an occasional game of pool & darts, and socializing with family and friends at Slims brought him much joy. Fuzz will be remembered as a man who was the life of the party and who made long-lasting relationships and friendships with many.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Fuzz is survived by his two sons, Phillip “Flip” Edwards and wife Hailey, and Ryan Edwards; grandchildren Aven Ella, Payton Daniella, Lila Teal, Rodney “Oli” Oliver, and Arya Grae; mother, Glenda Shelley; brother, Randy Edwards and wife Sandy; sister, Lisa Edwards and partner Debbie Attebery; stepmother, Ruth Edwards; stepsiblings, Bill Quisenberry and wife Jenny, Larry Quisenberry and wife Cindy, and Debbie Wynee and husband Michael; nephews, Joshua Edwards, and Brandon Edwards; niece, Chandler Edwards; mother of Flip, Shelley Scott; mother of Ryan, Amber Edwards; honorary brothers, Duck Bjork, Phil Woodard, Charlie Reed, Travis Vasquez, Ed Secrist, Abel Tijerina, and Ricky Hill, Jr.; and countless extended family and many, many friends.
