Peggy Perno, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on August 29, 2024. Peggy was born on August 8, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York. She was a remarkable woman known for her intelligence, generosity, determination, sense of humor and creativity. Her smart and insightful mind was complemented by an immense capacity for kindness that touched everyone she knew.
Peggy held a Master's degree in Social Work from Fordham University and served as the ADA Coordinator and Director of Accessibility and Accommodation at the University of Puget Sound for twelve years. She was a passionate advocate for students with disabilities, and her impactful work has left a lasting legacy. In her personal life, Peggy's creativity was evident in her love for gardening, painting, and refinishing furniture. She found joy in dancing to her favorite music and in the company of her beloved dog, Eddie.
Despite her many accomplishments, what mattered most to Peggy was her family. She moved from Long Island to Washington in 2012 to be closer to her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Meredith Sprangers and son-in-law Tim, her son William Perno, step-daughter Lisa Perno and grandchildren; Luke, Lana, and Rowan Sprangers. She leaves behind her brothers, Gregory and Joseph Jordan, and was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Jordan, and her sister, Maureen Murphy.
