Our mother, Marilyn Jean Abbott passed away on November 3, 2024. In her own words, she "lived a wonderful life!" Indeed, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure! She was born at home on December 17, 1933, in Tilden Junction, Minnesota. Marilyn spent her early life on a farm in Mentor. She loved to be doing things and was always busy! She had a horse named Babe, was active in 4-H, cheerleading, and even milked cows before school! Then she met and fell in love with a dashing and determined fellow named David Abbott. He revealed his serious intentions to marry her on their second date. Soon their life together unfolded beyond the confines of this tiny Minnesota farmland community. Initially they moved due to David's enlistment in the army for the Korean War. But that was only the beginning of a lifetime of moves, which continued with corporate transfers from David's employment. With grace and enthusiasm she led an active life as a wife who while moving her household on average every two years through five states cared for four independent, creative children and various dogs. She enjoyed travel, watercolor painting, gardening, collecting antiques, and playing bridge as well as many other activities of a wide and eclectic range! She was a voracious reader and was always interested in finding out about something new, different, and/or better! Her spirit lives on within her children, Paul, David, Julie, Kathryn, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Her friends and acquaintances at Harbor Place in Gig Harbor will also miss her, but it was time for her to return home to God and to our dad who is rejoicing as he is once again reunited with his beautiful bride!
