Penny Joint

Penny Jane Joint, age 77, of Erie, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 24, 2025, after a short but mighty battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 14, 1947, daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Mary Jane Lewis Joint.

Penny worked for the Erie Times News for 42 years, retiring as an Administrative Assistant. Penny made a lot of incredible strides throughout her career. For instance, she was the first woman in the newsroom to ever wear pants. She was not afraid to evolve with the times, and she valued knowing what was happening in her community. Penny (affectionately known as "Nanny" by her granddaughter) also loved spending time with her family, stated on numerous occasions she did not know what she did before TV, and took great pride in her lawn and home.

In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Joint, Jr.; as well as her beloved dog, Foxxy. Penny is survived by her daughter, Lisa Olson; her granddaughter, Kalli Oberlander; her grandson, Charles Oberlander; her siblings, Howard Joint and Debbie Beveridge; a nephew, Jonathan Beveridge; and a niece, Maggie Beveridge.

Private arrangements are being handed by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ANNA Shelter (where she adopted Foxxy), 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16510.
