Perry Ellis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by White's Funeral & Cremation Services on Jan. 24, 2026.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services, 867 S. James Road, Columbus, OH 43227: Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Perry Ellis III was born on February 27, 1965, in Jonesville, Louisiana, to the late Perry and Martha Bea Ellis. He departed this earthly life on January 19, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Ellis Jr.; his mother, Martha B. Ellis (Shelby); and his sister, Alicia Ellis.
As a military child, Perry traveled the world with his parents before they settled in Columbus, Ohio, in the early 1970s. He attended school in Columbus and graduated from Independence High School, Class of 1983, where he played varsity football and excelled in wrestling, earning All-City honors. Perry also had a passion for boxing and trained alongside Buster Douglas through the Columbus Parks and Recreation program. A loyal sports fan, Perry proudly supported the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Perry found peace and joy in the outdoors, especially while fishing, and he loved riding motorcycles. A natural in the kitchen, he had a gift for cooking and took pride in reinventing recipes, always adding his own personal touch that made every dish memorable.
Known for his vibrant personality, Perry loved telling stories and had an effortless way of bringing laughter and smiles to everyone around him. He enjoyed war movies and deeply loved his dogs-particularly Cane Corsos, which he proudly bred-as well as spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Paw-Paw." Perry's warmth and humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children Perry Ellis IV, Dalonda Scott, and twin sons, Davon and Tavon Ellis; stepdaughters, Aquellah Turner and Garriyna Brown; grandchildren Reigan Scott, Ariyah Scott, De'arii Ellis, Tavon Ellis Jr., Remi White, and Maria Brown; brothers Steve Ellis and Reginald Mitchell; and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.

On behalf of the Poindexter family, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to Perry´s family and friends. Perry, Alicia, and Steve were our cherished backyard neighbors, and we shared countless days of joy and camaraderie, engaging in activities like go-karting, biking, and sports. Perry possessed a vast knowledge and could engage in stimulating conversations on a wide range of topics, including the stock market, military strategy, and automobiles. He was an absolute delight to be around, and his absence will be deeply felt.
