Michael Alan Stann, age 74, passed away on December 16, 2025. He was born on January 21, 1951, in Parma, Ohio.

Michael graduated from Independence High School. He spent most of his life in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio.  He had a part time residence in Mariposa, California, and lived his final years in Groveport, Ohio.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Constance Stann; his stepmother, Beverly Johnson; children, Amanda (Martin) Ostrander, William Brewer, and Tiffany (Charles) Martin; grandchildren, Sierra Newman, Michael (Madeline) Newman, Matthew, Maella, Emeline, and Aurora Ostrander; brother, Alan (Andrea) Stann; nieces, Dana (James) Manning and Hannah (Charles) Herron; great-grandson, Savier Braddock; as well as cousins, other extended family and friends.

Michael graduated from Wittenberg University and The Ohio State University Law School. He served his country as a medic in the United States Army Reserves and later retired from the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

A loyal and enthusiastic sports fan, Michael supported The Ohio State University, Columbus Crew, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and many others. He was a dedicated AA sponsor to many, a true jazz aficionado, and an avid backpacker and hiker.

Michael spent many winters in Mariposa, California, where he devoted much of his time to the Yosemite Wilderness, a place he deeply loved. He was also a strong supporter of local musicians and artists and generously supported causes close to his heart—whether a foundation, a group, or an individual in need.

Above all, Michael was known for his kindness and compassion. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, not just briefly, but by truly showing up for people and honoring his commitments. He served as a mentor to many and, most of all, was a trusted and loyal friend to countless people.

Michael’s legacy of generosity, friendship, and care for others will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Visitation Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 1pm until the time of Funeral Service at 3pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
