Perry James Long, 44, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2025. Born in Akron, Ohio to Larry and Renee (Thompson) Long, he was a proud Veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. Perry enjoyed reading (Steven King was his favorite author), listening to music, watching movies (Star Wars being the favorite), cooking, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Perry was preceded in death by his grandpa, Wayne Thompson; aunt, Vicky Smith. He will be sadly missed by his brother, Billy Long; grandparents, Gloria & Tim Wilkes; aunts, Shirley (Rick) Wetzel, Dodie McGee; cousins who are like siblings, Crystal, Angie (Larry), Starre, Stephanie (Derek), Melissa (Ben), Renee (Stu); 2nd cousins who were like nieces and nephews; many other aunts, uncles and cousins from the Long family, as well as his brothers in arms and friends who are like family.
Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. He will later be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations for Perry to the family, c/o either Renee or Crystal.
