Also surviving are one brother, Mr. And Mrs. Anthony David (Allison) Rome; one nephew, Nicholas T. Rome, and one niece, Grace Caroline Rome, all of Hickory, North Carolina. My Dearest Husband Petie,

Words cannot describe how much my heart aches - you are in my thoughts each day and will be a part of me forever. Although things were not perfect, I am forever grateful that we exchanged "I Love yous" the last time we saw each other. I patiently wait to see you again- but until then, I will see you in my dreams.

I just heard about Pete, and I wanted to express my sympathies. Pete was a good hearted guy, and he didn't have a mean bone in his body. It's a tragedy to hear what happened. God bless, and may you all get through this rough time.

Anthony,

I remember you were always like a brother to my father, Sam. You always showed me your kindness and goodness, treating me like one of your own sons whenever I was around you when I was a kid. I knew Pete then, during the summers I would visit Clarksburg away from my new home in Florida. I remember all the fun we would have at the races. That was a special time for me growing up. A different world being with all of you. I'm so sorry to know Pete is gone. You all have my love and condolences, sent from one who hurts to know he's left us. Anthony, God Bless you and your family. Thank you again for your goodness to me.

Anthony my heart goes out to you and your family. My son, Shane Huff, was a friend of Pete's for a long time. Many nights I would have to go searching for them only to find them engaged in a volleyball game with friends at the Bridgeport pool. He always called me mom. I can not imagine your pain at this time, but I pray that someday you will realize that he is with our Almighty God and that someday you will see him again. Petie had a gift of making everyone feel comfortable and he was always joking around and smiling. He will live on in the hearts of the many peoples lives that he touched. I pray that someday the pain in your heart will ease somewhat and you will look forward to your meeting again.

All my thoughts and prayers,

Sarah Huff (Shane's mother)

My deepest sympathies to all of you. Pete was a great guy. I really enjoyed being around him. We played alot of basketball games together down at the Henderson Center. Pete was very aggressive on the court and physical player that loved to take it to the basket with a full head of steam and he often scored. I feel that is the way Pete approached life as I know him. May God bless you all.
