Peter Allen Obituary

Peter D. Allen
The family of Peter David Allen is saddened to announce his passing, at the age of 83, on August 19, 2024. Peter was born in Bridgeport on April 13, 1941 to the late William and Dorothea Devitt Allen and remained a lifelong resident of Fairfield. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Kathleen Piretti Allen. Their relationship was a true example of commitment, partnership and love.
Peter served his country with pride and honor in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, Peter worked in the sales and restaurant industries. He was the proud business owner of the Nautilus Café, on Reef Road in Fairfield, and later returned back to the sales industry, where he was a highly-respected salesman throughout the Northeast. Peter was born with a naturally sweet and kind soul, a heart of gold and a big smile for everyone he met, which served him well throughout his career and his life.
Peter was an avid lover of fishing, hunting and golf and was a dedicated sports fan. He loved sharing those activities with his friends and family, and in particular his children and grandchildren. He adored being with them and teaching them about his love of the outdoors and the life lessons he learned there, whether it be on a pond or ocean, in a field or cabin or on the 18th hole. Peter's love of family was evident and his greatest joy. The memories with Peter (PopPop) are abundant, there are enough stories to tell and live on in infamy, his great sense of humor, his laughter, the importance of humility and truth and honesty, living life to its fullest, being true to yourself, seeing the good in people…he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by his children, Edward (Linda) Allen, Kimberly (Richard) Rinaldi and Kathleen Manjos. His grandchildren, "the boys", Peter (Abigail) Allen, Matthew Manjos, Mitchell Manjos and Max Manjos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 26th, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Connecticut Healthcare System at www.va.gov . Before there was Christmas morning and finding gifts under the tree, there was Santa Claus coming through the snow to make every Christmas a child's dream come true...

Before there was a "Cheers", there was Uncle Pete's and Aunt Kath's basement...wood paneled with neon signs and filled with laughter, smiles, song, love and family...

It was in Peter & Kathy's pool his Brother Dev left his mark on me forever (literally) with a mark on my cheek as he tried to catch me coming down the waterslide along with a lot of splashing and fun with Eddie, Kim & Kathy.

Maybe my love for bacon come comes from funny memories of Peter's backyard pig...

Uncle Peter, thank you for being a fantastic Uncle to me and my siblings. A great Father, Grandfather, friend to many and most importantly, a Brother to my Dad.

My world and who I am today as Father and just a regular guy is due in no small part to the Love that was always shared by you with all of us and showed what it is to be a great man.

Like your brother's who have gone before you and my Dad as the last remaining member of the "Allen Boy's Club"; Thank you and know that you will live on in each and everyone whom you ever had a chance to share a smile with in this world.
