Peter Argyriou Obituary

Peter Argyriou, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on October 3, 2025, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Haido and George, and his cherished pet, Odie. Survived by longtime companion and friend, Angela Argyriou and her children, Wesley Rose, Meridith Rose and Kaula Rose, her 12 grandchildren; close friend Tony Antoniades, and numerous friends.

He called himself "an import," having emigrated from Veria, a village near Thessaloniki. He loved his Canton friends and remembered his glory days in Goya with great joy. Those friendships became lifetime friends. It was often said, if Pete was there, it was going to be a fun time.

For many years, Pete dedicated himself to Vertis Printing Company, where his selfless work ethic touched everyone around him. His retirement years were filled with outdoor activities specifically, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time at his place in Hocking Hills.

Pete was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Faith who took God's commandment to love his neighbor as a personal mission.

His quiet ministry, feeding the hungry in memory of those who have passed, began in memory of his beloved mother and will continue in Pete's same spirit of sacrifice and love. His thousands of prepared meals have touched countless lives, both those who received them and those who witnessed the act of giving.

As a past parish council member, his generous heart led him to prepare food for parish activities and festivals at both the Annunciation Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio, and Holy Trinity in Canton, Ohio-always giving freely to support both communities. Pete's passion extended to supporting youth and college outreach events, encouraging and uplifting the next generation. His kindness, tireless spirit, and generosity left a deep and lasting impression on all who knew him. He brought light and laughter to those who knew him.

Those he loved, he loved fiercely. He was a loyal friend to many. He was a devoted fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and wore orange on game days!

Pete will be warmly remembered for his quick sense of humor, honest candor, and his ever-present "we can do it" attitude that inspired those around him. We all will remember his culinary genius, his secret Lentil soup, lagana on Holy Monday and more. His care in helping manage and repair the broken, whether material things or people, will always be cherished.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St. Columbus, Ohio.

Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, October 14 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4705 Fairhaven Ave NW, Canton, OH 44709 with burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, it is kindly requested that donations be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Canton, OH, and to ministries that support the hungry.
