ASHBURNHAM: Peter J. Blanchard, 76, of Ashburnham, formerly of Townsend, died Friday, October 3, 2025 at Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner. Peter was born in Fitchburg, March 27, 1949, a son of the late Frank A. and Virginia (O'Connor) Blanchard and has resided in Ashburnham for forty years. Peter grew up in Townsend and was a 1968 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School. Following his graduation from high school, Peter enlisted and served four years in the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. During that time, he was stationed in Vietnam and was recognized for his service with the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. A welder by trade, Peter worked for several area companies including Boucher Construction in Leominster, Ye Olde Blacksmith Shop in Fitchburg, GroLex Metal Fabrication Corporation in Groton and K. Connors Furnace Repair Company in Townsend. Pete was a member of the Townsend VFW, Ashby Legion and enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing. He leaves two sisters, Lyssa Boudreau of CT, Rosemary Blanchard of Westminster; his sister in law, Joan Blanchard of Townsend; several nieces and nephews including Peter Blanchard, Patrick Blanchard, Rebecca Borneman, Jessica Blanchard, Matthew Borneman, Jason Borneman, and Elisabeth Borneman. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank A. "Butch" Blanchard III of Townsend and his longtime companion, Lois Hackett Adams of Ashburnham. A Celebration of Peter's life will be celebrated 5 PM Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Townsend VFW, 491 Main Street, Townsend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the US Marine Corps toys for tots.

My Sincere condolences to Pete''s Family members. 'My Neighbor' and Friend 'Pete'
on Spruce Ave. I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting the nicest Neighbor's Pete and Lois. Always so kind Respectful and helpful. Pete loved nature and the peacefulness of Spruce Ave. I sincerely enjoyed and appreciated my Neighbor Pete for many years inviting him to many BBQ's or just sitting on Deck with friends talking. Pete was very helpful and giving me advice about my Cottage lifestyle..He new the original owners and we shared alot of similar interests and stories. I have tremendous respect for my dear neighbor and friend 'Pete' just called him last week to check in with him...we always greeted each other for almost 10yrs everytime with "Hello Neighbor " I have to say Pete is the best " Guy I have ever known.. proud to have met and known Pete "Vietnam Vet' on Spruce Ave Ashburnham MA. very sad to hear he has passed Elaine Albert
