Peter Irving Charest

Sanbornville, NH - Peter Irvin Charest, "Pete" to most people, passed away peacefully at his home in Sanbornville, NH, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after a long illness. He was born the son of Albert "Pete" Charest and Ester Watson in Exeter NH.

He attended St. Mary's School & Church in Newmarket, later attended and graduated Newmarket High School, Class of 1965. Never staying inactive, as a teenage he worked as a paperboy delivering newspapers on his bike to the edge of Newfields. He was a Boy Scout & a member of the Tiger #1 Hose Co. competing team. Working at Griffin's Hardware Store in Newmarket he had many stories of misadventures he would laughingly share with others. He worked for Walter Cheney Construction Co. and eventually worked for himself as Charest Carpentry. Pete built many fine houses, remodeled many, even built amazing barns. He was a fine finish carpenter. He loved classic cars, especially his 1965 EL Camino & his record collection. He was a pretty good Disco dancer too! ( from his wife Nancy)

Dad had a great sense of humor and always got things going from the minute he entered a room. Those of you are fortunate enough to have known him, know what I mean! His sense of humor turned any gathering into a comedy show. You never knew what prank, wise crack or hilarious outfit he'd put on but could always count on laughing! He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking and waging war on every woodchuck or chipmunk messing with his garden or driveway. (from his daughter Amanda)

Peter leaves behind from his 1st marriage: a son, Jonathan Charest and granddaughter Heather Charest ; a daughter, Angela (Charest) Nichols & his fellow mischievous grand-daughters, Kayla (Casperonis) Caron & her husband Rudy & Wren Caron his great-grand-daughter; as well as Kasey, Kelsey and Kaitlyn Casperonis.

Peter leaves behind also his wife & friend, Nancy (McKenna); daughter, Amanda (Charest) Fifield & husband Gerald Fifield; two much loved grandsons Dale Charest and Jacob Fifield; and daughter Abby Charest, his favorite partner in crime, especially in those fast cars! Also his step-granddaughter Harlee and great-grandson James.

Pete leaves behind his VERY SPECIAL, dearly loved, Cousin Paulette Welch & husband Ed.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 5th from 4 - 6 p.m. at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home & Crematory, 77 Exeter Road (Route 108), Newmarket. Private burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket.
