Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bacarella Funeral Home, Inc. on Nov. 17, 2024.
Peter William Demray, born November 1, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on November 12, 2024, after a nine-year battle with a host of medical issues-a journey that would have overcome a lesser man in a fraction of the time. A resident of LaSalle, Michigan, Peter was born to Donia & William Demray and was the eldest of three brothers. He was preceded in death by his brother David and is survived by his younger brother William.
After graduating from Detroit Cody High School, Peter served in the U.S. Navy as an airplane mechanic. Known for his tireless work ethic, he went on to collect vehicles and equipment, storing them on his beloved 36-acre property-affectionately known as "The Junkyard"-and in his expansive storage building at home.
Always ready to lend a helping hand, Peter's response to any request was invariably, "No problem." He willingly devoted his time to assisting friends and family with their projects, often before completing his own. His unwavering dedication and spirit of service left a lasting impact on everyone around him.
Together with his wife, Marion, with whom he would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on December 18, 2024, Peter established an annual tradition: The Corn Roast. This event, held from 1987 to 2017, brought 150-200 people together each year, and nothing gave Peter more joy than uniting loved ones for an evening of food, fun, and laughter.
Peter was a devoted father to Paula Bitzer and Pete Demray and a proud grandfather to Kennedy Adams (Paula's daughter) and Jaymes and Smith Demray (Pete's children). He also welcomed with open arms Paula's husband, Ron Bitzer, and his children Preston, Cameron, and Abigail, as well as Pete's fiancé, Molly Pearson, and her children Cora and Lincoln.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd.,
Monroe, MI 48161. A memorial service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with military honors performed by VFW Post 1138, Monroe, followed by a Masonic service and a eulogy presented by his brother. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life luncheon that will be held on Saturday, Nov 23, 2024 from 1 - 4:00PM at the home of Pete's brother, Bill -- 800 Griswold, Northville, MI 48167.
Peter's "No Problem" legacy and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His mischievous smile was infectious, lighting up every room he entered. In Peter's memory, help a loved one or friend complete a project, and don't forget to enjoy a sip of Crown Royal, neat of course. He will be deeply missed, loved, and forever cherished.
