Peter Paul Ewald III was born in San Angelo, Texas on the thirteenth day of March 1953. He was the second born of Peter "Pete" Paul Jr. and Samie Lee Calhoun Ewald. Paul passed away unexpectedly on November 6, 2024, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stuart.
Paul spent his entire life in San Angelo. Coached by his father, Paul enjoyed playing baseball, excelling in his youth. After attending Crockett, Glenn and Central, he graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. Then, working as a cotton buyer for 50 years with his brother Brent, they continued the family business P.P. Ewald & Sons, Inc. since 1902. Paul enjoyed spending time with his four kids, time at the family ranches, traveling, teaching baseball and fishing in his spare time. He was well known for his long conversations that were always insightful and educating.
Paul is survived by his three sons. Lee Ewald, wife Conner Armstrong Ewald and grandson Brooks Weslee Ewald of San Angelo. Logan Ewald and Peter Paul Ewald IV both of San Angelo. His daughter, Mary Grace Ewald of Austin, Texas. His sister Sharon Ewald Strayhorn and husband David Strayhorn of Burkburnett, Texas. His brother and partner, Brent Ewald and wife Lesa Beach Ewald of San Angelo, Texas.
The family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A memorial service, in remembrance will be held at Southland Baptist Church December 7, 2024, at 10:00 am.
