Peter Laird Giffen Sr., 83, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL.
Peter was a passionate car and truck enthusiast whose love for automobiles began in his teenage years. He spent many weekends drag racing at Oswego Drag Raceway in Illinois and later dedicated his adult life to working as an auto mechanic and long-distance truck driver. Those who knew him often compared him to legends like Ken Miles from Ford vs Ferrari and Jerry Reed from Smoky and the Bandit. Peter was a man with a wealth of stories, always sharing them to bring laughter and joy to those around him. Peter was fortunate to travel across the United States and Canada during his trucking career, marveling at the beautiful landscapes that became an unforgettable part of his life. Peter is survived by his wife, Susan; three children, Stacy, Heather and Peter, their spouses, Mike, John and Julie, and granddaughter, Coral, and her spouse Royce. Peter will be greatly missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice in Peter's memory.
