Peter "Pete" Kaser, 79, of Ames, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Ogden. Pete's family is going to gather at a later date to celebrate his life.
Peter Gaylord Kaser was born on March 2, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa to Donald and June (Gaylord) Kaser. He lived in the Des Moines area during his youth and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963. He attended Iowa State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering. Pete served as a Sergeant in the Iowa National Guard for 6 years. He later attended Drake University in Des Moines, where earned a Master's degree in Business. Pete then went to work for several years at his family's construction company; Kaser Construction, that his grandfather had started. During Pete's career he was a construction engineer, working mostly with quarries and rock. He married Carol Ann Kopel on September 1, 2017 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Pete and Carol lived in the Ames area until his passing.
Peter was heavily involved in martial arts for many years; specifically Taekwondo, where he proudly earned his 4th degree Black Belt, among other degrees. Pete was very active and also enjoyed playing tennis. He loved to cheer on his Iowa State University football and basketball teams. He was also a self-taught musician and learned how to play the 12 string guitar. Music was important to Pete's life and he loved to attend concerts of all kinds, from the NADAS to Prince. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Carol of Ames; children, Brian (Sara) Kaser of Ft. Myers, FL, Suzie (Nathan) Allen of Fort Myers, Florida, Michael (Sarah) Kaser of Montezuma, IA, Kristen Kaser of Des Moines, IA, Wendy Conley of Ames, IA, and Amy (Todd) Thimesch of Marshalltown, IA; grandchildren, Gaige Kaser, Tameron Paulson, Bennett Paulson, Nick (Cassi) Thimsech, and Grant Thimesch; sister, Melinda (Bart) Watt of Memphis, TN. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and June; brothers, Mike Kaser, Jon Kaser and Phil Kaser.
