Peter Lapin Obituary
In loving memory of Peter Lapin, father to Gregory of Coeur d’Alene; previously married to Helen Lessig (deceased); brother to Margarita Suwalow and Nina Lapin (both deceased), brother-in-law to Arthur Suwalow (deceased), son of Peter and Theodora Lapin (both deceased), and uncle to Marina Morgenegg of Falls Church, VA and Tamara McKenna of Mystic, CT; U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.
Peter was born in Stuttgart, West Germany, after his family ran from the Soviet Union during Stalin’s rule. Peter’s parents, who retreated with German troops to avoid starvation under communism, worked in labor camps until being freed by US troops at the end of WW II. After the family immigrated to the US, Peter grew up in Rahway, NJ. Peter spent the last years of his life in Coeur d’Alene, ID, where he loved sharing many activities with his son, Greg, including attending local festivals, snowmobiling, and traveling. His nieces recall his mischievous spirit when he was young.
A member of the Russian Orthodox faith, Peter had attended St. John Antiochian Orthodox Church in Post Falls, ID. Peter commended his soul to God; may he rest in peace. Eternal Memory!
