Peter Charles Larson

Peter Charles Larson, age 81, of Prescott, WI passed away on January 12, 2025, surrounded by family and the kind staff at United Hospital, St. Paul. Peter was born December 30, 1943 to Wilbur and Margaret Larson in Minneapolis. After he graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1962, he served 2 years during the Vietnam War, working in the naval shipyards. He then went on to study steam fitting at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, becoming a journeyman in the pipe trades, an occupation which spanned approximately 42 years until his retirement from 3M Chemolite in January 2007.
In 1977, Peter met and married Tari Lynn Anderson, while working on the Iron Range for a taconite company, a union that has lasted over 47 years. They each had 2 children from previous marriages and went on to have 4 more. Spending time with each of his kids, and now 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, was Peter's first love and priority. Peter was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1977, a moment that forged a lifelong pursuit to live as Jesus Christ did. Peter was always helping the most in need. This included his AA family. Peter passed away during his 54th year of being sober. Peter loved being active, including working on all things autos and water skiing. He was an avid stock car racer in his earlier years and attended races at his favorite speedways. If you did not know where Peter was, chances were he was leaning over an engine block in his overalls, tool in hand or behind a boat on the St. Croix river waterskiing. We imagine that is where you can find him still.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sandra Rae Olson and Susan Jane Triethart. He is survived by his wife and his children Michele Larson, Kimberly Prosser, Christopher Larson, Melissa Larson, Meagan Johnson, Samantha Born, Janell Armstrong and Emily Selleck. Celebration of Life services will be held 10:00 a.m., January 25 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a luncheon to follow.
