Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Devoted husband, father and friend
Peter Lenihan, 69, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, May 17.
Born on June 22, 1955 and raised on Senator Street in Bay Ridge, he was the son of the late Jim and Gloria Lenihan. He moved to Staten Island in 1985, later settling in Old Bridge, New Jersey.
Peter worked for Fidelity Investments as a Branch Manager for nearly 30 years. After his retirement, he started a new career at Hyundai in Freehold. He loved driving, especially on scenic roads. An accomplished college fencer, he also had a passion for martial arts, practicing Tai Chi two days a week. Peter was a movie buff and loved going to the movies. He was a paranormal enthusiast, joining a wonderful community, New Jersey Paranormal, for a variety of ghost hunts throughout the year.
Peter married his wife Maria Parker on July 4, 2005. She was his best friend. Their beloved dog Madison passed away at the age of 16 in January of 2024. His daughter Kristin was the joy of his life.
Peter is survived by his wife Maria, his daughter Kristin Lenihan, his aunt Marie Morse, his older brother Jim Lenihan, sister-in-law Amy Kuettner, younger brother Robert Lenihan, his sister Joan Lenihan, niece Victoria Lenihan, sister-in-law Joanne Giardinella, brother-in-law, Charlie Giardinella, sister-in-law Audrey Giardinella and many wonderful friends including Patricia Mastrella, John Ruggiero, and Crystal Thierrien.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Humane World for Animals, the ASPCA, or any animal rescue group of your choice, as he had a deep love of animals.
