Peter R. Ludovic

Peter Robert Ludovic, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with his family by his side.
Peter was born December 16, 1937, in Neillsville to Adelaide and Peter C. Ludovic. He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1955. After earning a degree in accounting from UW-Madison, he began his career as a CPA at Ernst & Ernst in Milwaukee.
Peter met Joyce Knutel in Milwaukee, and they were married October 18, 1969, in Waukegan, Illinois. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary later this month. In 1976, he began working at Fox Valley Savings Bank in Fond du Lac, where he retired in 2009 after serving as president for 20 years.
He was dedicated to improving his community by serving on numerous boards, including the United Way, YMCA and the Fond du Lac School Board, and volunteering as a member of the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Club.
Peter was an avid walker and voracious reader, always learning and challenging himself with books, puzzles and board games. He often could be found with a newspaper or a sweet treat in his hands. Whether from the sidelines, the bleachers at Camp Randall or the comfort of his recliner, he was a faithful cheerleader for his kids, grandkids and all Wisconsin teams. He enjoyed traveling, and Scottsdale held a special place in his heart. He so embraced his Norwegian heritage that he convinced Joyce that if they're going to drink coffee, it needs to be black. Above all, he took great pride in his family and never passed up an opportunity to spend time with his children and grandkids.
Peter loved and was loved by his family. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and three children Julie (Gary) Gilkay, Stephanie, and Adam (Jamie) along with seven grandchildren Ben (Alexis), Grace and Lucas Gilkay and Annie, Libby, Peter and Levi Ludovic. He is further survived by his sister Gail Valley, stepmother Dorothy Henchen, half-brothers Nick and Leroy Ludovic, and sisters-in-law Marge (Roger) Boland, Mimi Piltz and Kathy Knutel along with nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome friends and relatives from 10 a.m. to noon on October 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac. The funeral Mass will immediately follow.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the SSM hospice team and the entire staff at Harbor Haven for their loving care over the past two years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac, Fondy Food Pantry, or the Holy Family Warming Shelter.
