Peter Lunn Obituary

Peter Joseph Lunn
Born: June 14, 1957 in Enid, OK
in Minneapolis, MN
Peter "Pete" Lunn of Minneapolis, MN. passed away peacefully on Saturday May 17,2025 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life and luncheon at 12:30PM on May 31st at Verucchi's Ristorante in Spring Valley, Il.
Pete was born in Enid Oklahoma on June 14, 1957 to Leroy and Barbara (Bird) Lunn. He married Mary Rigazio on September 6, 1980 at Holy Family Church in Oglesby.
He grew up in Ladd and was a 1975 graduate of Hall High School where he was Football Captain, played Varsity baseball and was an Honor student. He attended United States Military Academy at West Point graduating in the class of 1979 and later earned an MBA. After leaving the Army in 1986, Pete spent many years living in the Washington DC area working in the defense contracting industry, retiring in 2021.
Pete enjoyed fishing, reading, cooking, sports (especially the Green Bay Packers) and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He was known as the guy who would always lend a helping hand, could solve almost any problem and could build or fix almost anything. Friends and family enjoyed his entertaining skills over the years, especially his epic Thanksgiving Dinners.
Pete is survived by his wife Mary of Minneapolis; two children Elizabeth (Hernan Rojas) Lunn of St. Louis Park, MN and Tommy Lunn of Chicago; a granddaughter Camila Bird Rojas; two sisters Barb (Jerry) Stank of Spring Valley and Lisa Grivetti of Ladd; a nephew, nieces and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation or Children's Hospital of MN (Minneapolis).

I met Pete briefly at West Point, but didn't get to really know him and Mary until we went to the same church in Northern Virginia. Pete was one of the members that could be counted on to support our many projects. His presence and support were invaluable and many times his insights made the tasks much easier to accomplish. Pete's quick wit made every task fun!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mary, their children and the extended family. May God's blessings follow you all and comfort you now and in the future.

Mary & family, My sincere condolences on Pete's passing. We started kindergarten together and remained classmates through high school. I've always admired Pete and have many nice memories of him and growing up together in Ladd. Our parents were best friends for as long as I can remember. My continued prayers for Pete and your family.

Pete and I grew up together (with Pete older by a year) in Ladd IL and at Hall High School, playing baseball and football together. I always looked up to him. Even at that early age, he was a strong, loyal friend and a leader among us. My condolences to his family and many friends. God bless you, Pete.

Prayers for Pete and prayers to his family during your time of grief. Growing up in Ladd and being a grade school classmate of Pete's, brings back cherished memories. Playing basketball at Shield's garage, football at Manning's lot, and hunting rabbits around Ladd back in the day. God Bless Pete.

Mary, God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I will miss Pete's sage advice on fixing stuff, home improvement projects, talking about politics and worrying about the success of the Green Bay Packers. Pete was my fast talking roommate at West Point back in 1978 - a great friend who made my time there go by smoothly. Until we meet again - Godspeed. Scott & Mary Neal
