Peter "Marty" Martorelli Obituary
Peter Mario "Marty" Martorelli, age 45, of Hampton, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 9, 2025 after an 18-month battle with ALS.
Marty was born on February 20, 1979, to Peter and Kathy Martorelli in Pittsburgh. His passion for sports was evident from a young age. He graduated from Shaler Area High School, where he not only excelled academically but also played ice hockey for both the school team and the Pittsburgh Amateur Penguins. After graduating high school in 1997, he went on to study at West Virginia University. He was a valued member of the Spend Analysis team at SAP Ariba, working his way up to a Senior Consultant role during his tenure. He was respected and loved by his colleagues and clients, and also many dear and close friends.
In 2007, while on vacation on Hilton Head Island, Marty met the love of his life, Hannah Welker. The two married in Pittsburgh on October 23, 2010, and went on to build a beautiful family together. Marty's proudest achievement was becoming a husband to Hannah and a father to their two children, Leah (11) and Mario (7). His love and devotion to his family were unmatched, and he found immense joy in every moment spent with them.
In addition to his loving wife and children, Marty is survived by his parents; his sister, Kaitlin (Martorelli) Long; his brother-in-law, Will Long; niece, Emmy; and his, nephew Teddy. He is also survived by his in-laws, Donna and Toby Welker; sister-in- law, Heidi (Donald) Roupp and their children Dawson, Ledger and Haven; his sister-in-law, Abbey (Josh) Yoas; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, with whom he loved spending time.
A man of many passions, Marty found joy in the simple pleasures of life- playing golf, listening to his vinyls, and cooking meals for family and friends, especially his "award winning" Chili! Sundays were especially cherished, spending time with his family over a great meal. Marty's warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and his love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Marty's name be made to the ALS Association: Marty's Tribute page at https://secure2.convio.net/alsa/site/TR/DIY/NationalOffice?px=9107653&pg=personal&fr_id=16212 to aid in the ongoing fight for a cure for this devastating disease.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA.
A Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13 at Assumption Cemetery of Saint Mary, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw. A time of food and fellowship to follow in the Hampton Community Center.
