Peter Joseph Morley

Peter J Morley passed away peacefully near his home in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. He was 86 years old.

Born October 4, 1939 in Yonkers, NY, to Irish-born parents, Peter was the oldest of five children. He is predeceased by his brother Thomas and sister Margaret Mary, and survived by his siblings Kathleen (Diane) and John. The five Morley kids became parents to fifteen children using the Irish rhythm method.

Peter and his former wife, Marilynne, raised their family in Colts Neck. He spent decades as a distributor for Safeguard Business Systems and founded Tri Star Fulfillment Services. A proud Marine, he once served as Assistant Brig Warden in Norfolk, Virginia-occasionally locking up old Yonkers friends. In the community he was an original member and later president of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick of the Jersey Shore; a member and past president of Beacon Hill Country Club; and a founder and later chairman of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation of New Jersey. During the height of COVID, he made meal runs from local restaurants to Riverview Hospital so tired staff had something different to eat.

He was an accomplished academician-left back in the fourth grade, attending night school for his high school diploma-yet he could charm the birds out of a tree. Later he wrote a book about the misadventures of his family and friends growing up in Yonkers, Morley's Musings, available on Amazon for $9.99!

Peter is survived by his daughter Jill and her husband Gary Lai of California; his son Christopher and his wife Shannon; and his grandchildren Luke, Quinn, and Ella of Denver, Colorado.

Funeral Mass: St. James Roman Catholic Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank - Saturday, October 25, 10:00 a.m.

Memorial reception: Molly Pitcher Inn, 88 Riverside Ave., Red Bank - Saturday, October 25, 12:00–3:00 p.m.
