Peter J. Ralph

Peter J Ralph, 82, of Metuchen, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at home.
Peter was born in Staten Island, NY and lived in the Fords/Clara Barton area before settling down in Metuchen, where he lived for 48 years, holding the position of The Mayor of Home Street. He was a Sales Engineer at B&H Tool of Connecticut and after retiring he became a Star Appliance Salesman at Home Depot in Edison. Peter was also a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served overseas. His favorite memory of that time can best be summarized as Thunder Thud. He was an avid fisherman and also liked catching and eating New Jersey crabs. Peter also enjoyed traveling; he considered himself a Master Trip Planner and visited 24 countries with his wife. But most importantly, Peter was known for his conversation skills, quick wit, creative pronunciations of words, warm heart, and especially his healthy appetite. He loved any and all leftovers. Most importantly, everyone always said Peter was a nice man.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Walter Ralph; and his brothers, Kenneth and Roger Ralph. Peter was very proud of his family's roots in Hungary. A crowning moment in his life was the Heritage Trip he took with his wife, brother Roger, and sister-in-law Janice, to Baška (Košice), Hungary, his mother's birthplace. He relished in researching his family history. He also often spoke of his Uncle John and their strawberry farm in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and always said that he wanted a farm himself.
Peter is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille (Maita); his son, Christopher Ralph and his wife Gina of Woodinville, Washington; his daughter, Tricia Bryan and her husband Lee of Weilerbach, Germany. He was immensely proud of his two grandchildren, Jeremy and Alexandra. He also enjoyed all the laughter and meals spent with Lucille's sisters, Mary Ann Erskine, and her husband Dennis, and Janet Boesman, and her husband Dan as well as his many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and amazing neighbors.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 12pm to 4pm at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen with Military Honors beginning at 3:45pm.
Cremation will be private.
