Leonora Caramucci, a woman of strong faith and deep dedication to her family, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. She was 92.
Born in Newark, she graduated from West Side High. Her intelligence and love for reading and writing poetry, far exceeded the degrees she attained. An Edison resident for over 61 years, she was active in the PTA and enjoyed many community events. Leonora was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Edison, where she volunteered her time and taught CCD.
Throughout her life, she found solace in her connection to the Patron St. Therese the little flower. Leonora's attention to detail and love for beautiful things, followed her through life, her work, and all she did. She enjoyed being a bridal consultant at Antoinette's Bridal and always was the one to go to for that special touch. Leonora's most treasured accomplishment was raising her four girls. She enjoyed many celebrations, traditions, vacations, Vistana her home away from home, and the simple treasure of being together with those she loved. Her family was and will always be her everything.
Leonora was blessed with unconditional love for over 65 years from her predeceased husband, Anthony "Nino", whom she was proud to be "Anthony's Wife". She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter Antonia; parents, Michael and Elizabeth (Lombardi) Cerrito; brother, Leonard Cerrito, sister, Hilda Scapicchio and additional family and friends she adored. Leonora was the last of a very special generation.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Petz and her husband Timothy of Edison, Cynthia Shaffery and husband Mark of Brick, Rosalie Roe and husband George of Edison, and her son-in-law Robert Hurst and wife Ellen of Edison; five grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy Petz Jr. and Jessy, Michael Petz and Joanna, Melissa Shaffery and Michele, Christina Levitz and Danny, and Steven Roe and Nicole; three great-grandchildren, Gianna, Jayden, and Nora.
The Funeral Service will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:30am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen. The interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
The visitation is Sunday from 4-8pm.
