Dear John and Karen, being the best friens that I have ever had the honor to have in our lives, please know that my wife and I are sincerely sorrowful of the loss that you and your loved ones have encountered, we want to let you know that you and your family are in our prayers, we both love you and pray for you during this time of your loss. I was saddened to hear the news about Uncle Peter. While we won't be able to attend the service, please know that our thoughts have been and will be with you. I also have fond memories of Uncle Peter at the lake up north and at the house on Bluff Drive. I only hope I can live up to the "Peter" namesake in the Schmelz family tradition and live as good of life as Uncle Peter did.

Shawna and I extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to the whole family. I was lucky enough to know Pete and know that he was loved and admired by all, especially his grandsons Dean and David who are close friends of mine and my wifes. You and your relatives cannot have been blessed with a more wonderful grandfather than Grandpa Pete, and Barb, what a wonderful father to have. Our thoughs and prayers are with you all and all of the family.

I have warm childhood memories of visiting Uncle Peter and Aunt Jane's home overlooking the river. There was gentle humor and an inviting welcoming. Thank you for your generous spirit.
