Peter P. Valenzano (aka. "Moose")
On August 3rd, 2025, Peter P. Valenzano, lovingly known as "Moose" by friends and family, was returned to the loving arms of the Lord. He passed away, very peacefully in his sleep, in his own home.
Moose was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey on September 21st 1940 and was "Jersey City" through and through. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, where he played football and baseball. In 1962, Moose took his first job on Wall Street, and worked at several different brokerage firms for over 20 years, when he decided he wanted to be closer to his family in Old Bridge and would never have to miss one of his son's ballgames. He took a job at the Old Bridge Municipal Authority, where he stayed until his retirement and served as union President for a period. Moose was a Knight of Columbus, a long-time Elk, where he ran the bar and was remembered as a legendary softball player. He was also a top bowler, and was known by his teammates as "The Hammer". In 2006, he relocated to Hamilton Township with his sons, where he lived out his life. Later in life, he loved to play roulette in Atlantic City, Hallmark Movies, General Hospital, all cooking shows, the Yankees, all sports on television and watching Jeopardy with his sons. He loved food from all different kinds of cuisines, especially Italian, and could spot a pretty lady from a mile away. He was a kind and generous man, and tipped anybody and everybody.
He was predeceased by his father Vito Valenzano Sr, his mother Nellie Valenzano, his brother Vito Jr. (Billy), and his sister-in-law Anne. He is survived by his sons, Peter and Paul, his ex-wife and best friend Barbara, and a Godson, known as "Jacko Botz."
There will be a Celebration of Life/Visitation at Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home in Hamilton Township, NJ, on Saturday, August 9th from 2-4:00pm, with a brief memorial prayer at 3:45. All are invited to a luncheon immediately following, at a location to be shared at the conclusion of the services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to his favorite charities: Tunnel To Towers Foundation at www.T2T.org and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
