Peter W. Zwingle, 85, of Galloway, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Complete Care in Holmdel, New Jersey. Peter was born on February 16, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey, where he grew up. Peter met the love of his life, Frances A. Uzzolino, and they were married on October 31, 1970. In 1975, Peter and Frances moved to Maplewood and then shortly after to Edison. After retiring, they settled in Galloway where they remained. Pete was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He continued his service by joining the Newark Police Department in September of 1965 as a Patrolman, assigned to the Police Training Academy. Pete continued his service and moved through the department with varying assignments and titles. In January of 1971 he was assigned to the 4th Precinct, in January 1978 he was assigned to the Emergency Bureau, April of 1983 he moved to the South District, in April of 1990 he was assigned to the Detective Squad, April of 1992 he became the Detective of the Warrant Squad, and he finished his career Assigned to the Major Crime Division in January of 1994. Pete decided to retire in June of 1994, after loyally and proudly serving the department almost 30 years. Most of all, Peter will always be remembered as a loving husband, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and friend to many.
Pete was predeceased by his loving parents, Peter and Julia (Ruggiero) Zwingle, and his brother-in-law, Carmine Dente, Sr. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Frances (Uzzolino) Zwingle, his sister in law, Georgine Dente, his brother in law, Peter Uzzolino and his wife Vera, his loving nieces and nephews, Carmine Dente and his wife Annette of Holmdel, Gina Dente of Holmdel, John Dente and his wife Lauren of Middletown, and Nicolas Uzzolino of Morganville, along with his cherished great nieces and nephews, Carmine Dente III, Giovanna Dente, Davela Dente and Braden Dente. Pete will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Saturday February 15, 2025, from 8:00 to 8:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, February 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church, 172 Freneau Avenue, Matawan, New Jersy 07734. A very kind man who I had the pleasure of playing cards with at our clubhouse. He would routinely bring dog biscuits for my two dogs. Rest in peace, Pete! My deepest sympathy to his family!
