Philip Mark Baerenwald, of Plymouth, MA, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of April 28, 2024, following complications from a medical procedure. He and his family were blessed by the support and prayers of many of his loved ones and friends.
Phil was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on October 1, 1960, to parents Warren and Arlene Baerenwald. He spent his childhood years in Wisconsin, Texas, Florida, and Ohio, where he met Ginger (George), his wife of 42 years.
He graduated from Cambridge High School. Phil completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University and later his MBA from Xavier University. Phil was an accomplished and creative engineer working in the automotive, toy, packaging, and consumer product industries and is the holder of dozens of U.S. patents relevant to his field. He most recently retired as long-standing company President of J.L. Clark in Rockford, Illinois. He was instrumental in the adoption and execution of Continuous Improvement and Sustainable Manufacturing objectives across several operations. Phil was always problem solving whether at home or the office, was always up for new challenges, and loved to check projects off his list. He was a deeply faithful, family-oriented son, husband, brother, father, Papa, uncle, great uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend.
He is survived by his mother Arlene; his wife Ginger; sons Devin (wife Jennifer) and Derek (wife Alesha); grandchildren Retta, Margo, Gabriel (Gabe), Micah, and Grace; brothers Paul and wife Beatriz (Betty), Mark and wife Elizabeth (Lisa); brother-in-law Marty Anderson and wife Ann; nieces and nephews Joshua (Josh), Lukas (Luke), Sarah, Alejandro (Alex), Andrés (Andy), and Vanessa Anderson, as well as a loving extended family and many friends. Phil was preceded in death by his father Warren, his sister Cynthia Anderson (Cindy), his father-in-law Karl George, Jr., his mother-in-law Barbara George, and his nephew Brandon Anderson.
Phil gave in death as he did in life, fulfilling his commitment as an organ and tissue donor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Phil's memory to the following organizations: New England Donor Services of Waltham, Massachusetts (neds.org), and Faith Community Church of Plymouth, Massachusetts (faithcommunityma.com). Memorial services are being coordinated by the family.
Phil, Dad, Papa, we love you, we miss you, and we will see you again. Thank you for fighting the good fight, for finishing the race, and for keeping the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).
