Philip L. Burrell was born on May 15, 1938. He was the only son of Lucille Burrell and Arthur Horton. He was raised in Bayonne, NJ with his sister Evangeline Johnson. Phil was preceded in death by both his mother and father, and sister Evangeline Johnson Philip attended school in the Bayonne Public School District, graduating from Bayonne High School in 1957. After graduation Phil entered into the United States Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, TX. He then returned to New Jersey where he worked at RCA and went on to earn his associate's degree in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level Machinery. He was a member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge, Prince Hall, affiliated for over 10 years. Out of his first union, his daughter Tracey Burrell, and son Philip Burrell Jr. were born. Phil later moved to Kansas City, Kansas where he worked at Colgate, and later BPU where he retired. As fate would have it, he met who would become his future wife, Charlesetta over an impromptu luncheon where they talked for hours. The stars aligned, and from that day forward, they were inseparable. In 1995, he married his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Charlesetta Burrell. He would proudly tell everyone that not only was she the true love of his life, but that she was the best thing to ever happen to him. They enjoyed traveling, watching TV, and dining at Longhorn Steakhouse. Phil was an avid New York Mets, New York Giants, and Kansas City Chiefs fan. You could catch him on any given Sunday rooting on his favorite team! Shooting pool in his family room, and swimming in his backyard were some of his favorite past times. He was the best bartender and loved to serve up drinks at the parties his daughter Shavon would host. Family meant the world to him. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His great grand-daughter Pootentang (Sophia) could do no wrong! He was always willing to give a word of advice, and had special sayings that you would never forget. As Phil would say, "Keep a clear head and stay loose" and "Always remember the 5 Ps; Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance."
