It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Philip Edgar Daniels, affectionately known as Phil, Gunner D, and Poppy, at the age of 76. Philip departed this life on September 17, 2025, at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 27, 1949, in Burley, Idaho, Philip dedicated his life to service, enlisting in the United States Navy on October 9, 1967. He proudly served his country for over 26 years, retiring as a respected Lieutenant Officer on January 31, 1994. Following his military career, Philip pursued his education, obtaining an Associate's Degree from Tidewater Community College. He then went on to establish a successful career as an Accountant, Tax Preparer, and Loan Officer.

Philip was a devoted family man and is survived by his daughters; Shawna Mullins, daughter-in-law, Jen Harding; his sister, Phyllis Oyler; his nephews, Garret and Shane Oyler; and his cherished grandchildren, Rosemary Icban, Brendan Braswell, Caleb Daniels, Teagan Harding, Austin Mullins, and Aleigha Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip N. Daniels and Alma E. Meffor; his beloved spouse, Sandra L. Daniels (Bunny); his children, Kendall Braswell and Aaron Harding; as well as his beloved dogs, Piper, Gator, Junior, and Scarlette.

Philip was a man of deep faith, having grown up as the son of a Nazarene pastor. His commitment to helping others was evident in his charitable contributions to organizations such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and VA Veterans Affairs. His passions included horses, western movies, crossword puzzles, and literature. He relished the opportunity to travel, with particular joy found at NASCAR races and relaxing on the beaches of the East Coast. Philip lived his life honorably, filled with accomplishments that brought him great fulfillment.

A funeral service in celebration of Philip's life will take place at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, located at 1485 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464, on October 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to attend. Following the service, a private graveside burial will be held at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in Philip's memory to one of the following charitable organizations: the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD), American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Association, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, ASPCA, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Additionally, donations may be made to an organization or church of your choice.

Philip Edgar Daniels will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
