Philip John Davi entered eternal peace with Jesus on January 13, 2025, at age 84. He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and resided in Slidell, Louisiana, for the last 31 years.
The son of the late John Davi and Santa Puma Davi, Philip was proceeded in death by his sister, Jennie Mauri (Joseph), and brothers Joseph Davi (Jackie) and John Davi II. He is survived by his sister, Stephanie Hyland (Richard) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Philip was the beloved and loving husband of Judy Guillot Davi, who he shared 63 years of blissful, loving marriage most only dream of. He was a family man in every sense, devoted to his children, Sheri Davi Delaup (Danny) and Joseph Davi (Debbie), and he was a proud and fantastically loving grandfather to Andy Delaup (Amanda), Jeanne Delaup, and Demi Davi (Kyle). He extended his love generation to generation, doting on his three great-granddaughters, Lyvvie Doxey, Claire Delaup and Davi Delaup (named after him).
A graduate of John McDonogh High with the Class of '59, Philip worked for Life of Georgia Insurance as well as a switchman for Illinois Central Railroad and L&N (CSX) Railroad, where he retired after many years of dedicated service.
Ours is a very close knit family and Gail Bradley, Joby & Carol Riggio, Doris Sortino, and all of his Davi, Bradley, and Riggio nieces and nephews were also very loved by Philip. Together, we will all cherish many memories that will be shared forever.
Philip passed under a full moon that was as bright and full as his spirit. He was an honest, pure man with a story telling ability that would light up any gathering. Like a true New Orleans native, he enjoyed the Fair Grounds Racetrack, playing cards, watching old movies, and singing! He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and had a special love for Jesus. Although his medical history was lengthy, you could always find him with a cheerful spirit and appreciative heart filled with love. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A Funeral Mass will begin in the chapel at noon. Philip will be laid to rest in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 in New Orleans following services.
