Philip E. Dungey of Elmhurst, IL passed away on February 21, 2025. Phil was born January 18th, 1946, in Belleville, IL, the son of Jess W. Dungey and Florine Dungey (nee Petri) of Belleville, IL. Phil graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1964 and Southern Illinois University in 1969 with a degree in microbiology.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother John and his brother-in-law Bill Sweeney.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Dungey (nee Johnson), his daughter Kristen Cooper, his sister Jane Sweeney, his nieces Dr. Gina (Dean) Schellhase, Andrea (Mike) Passantino, Amy (Chris) Gurchiek, his grandchildren Erik (Aaliyah) Witteck, Mitch Witteck, and Katie Cooper, and his great-grandchildren Forest, Oliver, and Mason.
He was employed by several food companies, including Keebler, where he was a food scientist in research and development. He loved sports, especially fantasy football and baseball. He was an avid, lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their condo in Wisconsin.
He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dearly loved by so many and will be truly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to either West Suburban Animal Shelter in Downers Grove, IL or Unity Hospice & Palliative Care of Chicago would be greatly appreciated.
