Philip J. Gentile, a beloved resident of Lakeville, passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on September 7, 1934, in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late James (Vincenzo P) Gentile and Mildred (Jansky, Gentile) Moore. Phil's early years were spent in the vibrant neighborhoods of Boston.
Phil dedicated over 35 years of his life to the Telephone Company, where he worked as a service technician, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and customers alike. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; he proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves, embodying the values of duty and honor.
A true enthusiast at heart, Phil found joy in many passions. He was an avid race kart driver, winning many races and championships; earning many trophies. He was a truck aficionado. Music was another significant part of his life; in his younger years, he played the guitar and performed in a band, creating melodies that resonated with friends and family. Then at 80 took it back up, even taking lessons again. Phil was a jack of all trades, always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends, whether it was fixing a leaky faucet or building a retaining wall.
Phil's love for his family was profound. He is survived by his significant other of 45 years, Priscilla Anderson, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He leaves behind his son, James J. Gentile of Lakeville; daughters Denise Gentile Lombardi and her husband David of Carver, Lisa Gentile Desharnais and her husband Edward of Halifax, and step-daughter Nancy Dersoier of FL. He is also survived by his brothers, James Moore of Rhode Island and Kenneth Moore of Maryland, and sisters Betty Tucker of Kentucky and Donna Gentile of California. Phil was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and a great-grandfather to many, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his brothers Edward Jollimore and Joseph Moore, as well as sisters Francy Moore and Kathy Moore.
Phil's loyal companion, his dog Cory, brought him much joy and comfort, especially in his later years. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, located at 373 Court St., North Plymouth (near Cordage Park), on Sunday, November 9th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 10th, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, followed by burial at Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth.
In honoring Phil's memory, let us remember the laughter, the love, and the countless moments that made his life truly special. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a reminder to cherish every moment with our loved ones.
