Philip Goodwin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 12, 2025.
Philip Lloyd Goodwin, age 75, died peacefully December 3rd surrounded by his sister and the caring staff of Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Sandwich, MA.

Phil was born on May 9, 1950, to Lloyd R. and S. Irene (Lahtinen) Goodwin in Salem, MA. Phil graduated from Danvers High School in 1968, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Northeastern University in 1973. He owned the Goodwin Painting Company in MA, and later relocated to North Carolina, where he continued his painting company. He teamed up with construction companies to prepare and repair homes with precise interior as well as exterior painting. Phil loved playing golf, and enjoyed watching it when his health didn't permit him to play on the green. He also enjoyed skiing, fishing, and swimming and was a big fan of the Patriots and the Bruins, as well.

After living with Parkinson's Disease for 16 years, he finally lost his struggle with this debilitating disorder. Phil is survived and sadly missed by his twin sister, Judith (Goodwin) Hastings of Carver, MA, his nieces and nephew, and was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Donald R. Goodwin of Santee, CA.

A private funeral service is planned, as well as a celebration of life at Cape Heritage where he spent his last years, befriending and enjoying many residents and staff. Their tender care and friendships became like family to him. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody, MA, at a later date.

Should you wish to make a donation in Phil's memory, contributions to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or Hospice Services of Massachusetts will be graciously appreciated.
