Philip Greseth of Dawson died on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Care Center at the age of 97.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home.
Philip Grant Greseth was the seventh child born to Peter and Gina (Johnson) Greseth, being born on February 24, 1926, at the Peter and Gina Greseth farm home in Cerro Gordo Township of Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. He graduated from Dawson High School in 1944. Philip served 22 months in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946 serving the Pacific Area. Upon discharge from the Navy, he started farming and pursued that occupation the rest of his working days. In 1979 he married Annabel Clift Smith. They resided in their farm home until 1997 at which time they moved to Dawson, Minnesota.
Philip was a lifetime member of Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, and a 60-plus years member of the American Legion.
Philip is survived by four stepchildren: Nancy Steffes, William Smith, Barbara Gross, and Judith Smith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Annabel; his parents; siblings: Mathilda (Arnold) Denton, Henry, Agnes (Omar) Boraas, Hazel (William) Krepps, Esther (Orrin) Denton, and Grace, who died in infancy and one stepdaughter, Bonnie Simmons.
