Philip Link Obituary

On March 1, 1947, the ninth baby born to Bill and Flora Link was a boy and they named him Philip Glenn. He entered this big world in Loveland, Colorado. Philip grew up in rural West Bijou community in Elbert County, Colorado. He started school in a 2-room schoolhouse and completed his formal education in Kiowa High School, Kiowa, Colorado where he graduated with 9 classmates, most of whom have remained life long friends. Phil proudly shared the legacy of the guys he graduated with. They all served in various military branches and “they all came home”. Phil served in the Army with a deployment to Germany and Viet Nam. Following his time in the service, Phil returned to Denver and met the love of his life, Betty Kline. He and Betty were married in 1971 and always lived in the Denver metro area.

Phil’s chosen occupation was retail woodworking, sales and customer service. He appreciated the trees and “woods”. When he saw a beautiful piece of wood his mind went to what he could make out of it; and had a well-equipped shop in his home where he spent countless hours creating for enjoyment as well as customers. He made a lot of unique items. A favorite hobby was taking woodworks to local craft fairs-always enjoying seeing friends and fellow-crafters.

Phil loved the Family Farm which was established by his maternal grandparents over 125 years ago. He, with Betty, worked tirelessly and was very instrumental in keeping a part of the farm in the family up to the present time. His favorite implement was the tractor.

His life ended at Swedish Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He went to his eternal home peacefully, with his wife and family at his bedside.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Flora Link, a niece, Karolyn (Link) Yattaw and nephew Luke Franklin. He is survived by 4 brothers, Leon (Berta), Jim (Martha), Orvan (Ginny deceased), and Loyd (Mary Louise); 7 sisters Ruth Otis (Fred deceased), Nita McKnight (Herb), Rebecca Taylor (Paul), Peggy Schwarzkopf (Mike), Mary Kleinschmidt (Jim), Genni Link, and Debbie Franklin (Mark). As well as his inlaw siblings, Betty’s brothers and sisters. He has many nieces and nephews, cousins and a plethora of friends who he held in very high regard.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like, please send any memorial gifts to your favorite charity.

Rest in peace dear Husband, Brother, Cousin, Uncle & Friend. Love you and miss you!!
