Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Nov. 13, 2025.
Philip John McCane, 74, of Justice Addition in Logan, WV, formerly of Holden, WV, a devoted follower of Christ, entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on November 9, 2025, in Logan. Those preceding him in death were his parents, Annas Charles McCane and Myrtle Workman McCane, and his brother, Wilbur McCane, all of Holden.
Philip was born on September 20, 1951, in Logan. He was a 1969 graduate of Logan High School. He enjoyed music all his life, played guitar, and was known to be a great storyteller in his family. He left WV and lived and worked in Collierville, TN, for many years. Philip was an industrial engineer and used his skills in coal mining, manufacturing, and at Clevite where he was employed as a Maintenance Technician Lead, while living in Collierville. He returned to WV to help care for his mother and brother and decided to retire and settle down once again in Holden. Philip considered it to be his ministry to assist his church family with home projects when they did not have the means or family in the area that could help. It was his honor to serve others whenever he could. He loved to discuss the Bible that he studied daily and he was well known for being a prayer warrior.
Those left to cherish their memories with Philip include the absolute love of his life, his best friend and doting wife of 5 years, Pamela Brumfield McCane. They were known to work as a team for their church, in making dinner, in singing together, and were typically inseparable. There were never missed opportunities to spend their time together. Philip and Pam were members of Justice Christian Church, in Justice Addition in Logan. Philip was a loving father of 2 children, a daddy's girl, Heather Jan McCane of Patterson, Arkansas, and his caring and devoted son, Eric Charles McCane of Collierville, TN, and more recently of Holden, WV. He also was a stepfather to Angela (Todd) Berry of South Charleston, WV, Shanda (Eric) Amorena of Larkspur, Colorado, and Jeremy (Jamie) Brumfield of Mitchell Heights, WV. They loved him and appreciated his love for their mother. Philip had 10 grandchildren- John Michael McCane of Barton, MS, and Josh McCane of Patterson, AR, as well as Elisabeth and Sara Berry, Chelsea and Joshua Amorena, Jacob and Jordan Brumfield, and Jadyn and Kelsey Carter. He was blessed with 2 great-granddaughters, Zadie Jane McCane and Azalea Rivers McCane of Barton, MS. Philip enjoyed a long list of extended family members including cousins and in-laws. Philip was also adored by the cat he shared with Pam, Mr. Bynx McCane.
Per his wishes, Philip has been cremated, and a memorial service is being planned at Justice Christian Church in the coming weeks, with Pastor Caleb McDonald officiating. His family and friends miss him terribly already but are comforted by knowing the heavenly sights and sounds he was immediately witness to, as he was welcomed by the Lord into Heaven as a good and faithful servant.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at
