Philip John Del Monte passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025 at the age of 85. Born in Florence, Colorado on July 7, 1939, Philip's childhood was spent in Florence where he worked with his father on their family farm, rode their horses bareback, and fished in the river.
Philip attended Florence High School where he served as Head Boy and won a State Championship in wrestling his senior year. It was there that he also met his beautiful bride-to-be Barbara. Shortly after graduating high school, Philip joined the United States Navy.
While in the Navy, Philip and Barbara were married on August 6, 1960, and after his four years in the Navy, they moved to the Bay Area in California. It was there that Philip began his life-long career as a phone technician, and he and Barbara began their family.
Philip will be fondly remembered for his quiet strength, his friendly nature, his love of music, and the enduring mark he left on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Barbara, and he will be profoundly missed by his daughter, Lisa Watkins (Del Monte); his son, John Del Monte; grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
