Philip F. "Phil" Sunseri Jr.

Philip 'Phil' F. Sunseri Jr., 82, was called home on October 25, 2024 with his daughter LisaAnn, son David, and granddaughter Ariana by his side.
Phil was born on January 6, 1942 to the late Philip Sr. and Carmella Sunseri. He attended school in Haverstraw where he excelled in shot put and discus throwing in highschool. He graduated in 1959 and later attended trade school in New York City.
Phil had a love of classic sports cars, fishing, hunting, Nascar and attending the Middletown stock car races. He was an avid bowler, belonging to multiple leagues; it's also where he met his future wife. He began his career as a Mason before joining the North Rockland Central School District where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of Rescue Hook & Ladder in Haverstraw and also the Haverstraw and West Haverstraw Seniors Clubs.
He married the love of his life, Teresa in 1966 and settled in Garnerville where they raised their 3 children.
Although his recent diagnosis of ALS robbed him of the activities he loved the most, he never lost hope and continued to carry on with both a smile on his face and the occasional giggle.
Philip is predeceased by his parents, Philip and Carmella and his wife Teresa. He is survived by his children Anthony, LisaAnn, David (Kristina). He is also survived by his grandchildren Samantha, Sharnie, Kyle, Alex, TJ, Ariana, Isabella, and his great-grandchildren Lily, Carmella, and Colson. He is also survived by his many cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, from 4pm-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, at 9:45am at St. Peter's Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
