Phillip Douglas Dickerson April 30, 1954 – July 16, 2025

Phillip Douglas Dickerson, of the Cato community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Born on April 30, 1954 to the late Ralph and Rebecca Dickerson, Phillip was raised in the close-knit Cato community where his values of faith, family and hard work were deeply rooted. In addition to his Parents he was preceded in death by: Grandparents, Carl and Martha Dickerson and Homer and Mary Lee Robinson; Father and Mother-in-Law, Bobby & Robbie Pitt and beloved Nephews Eric and Josh Dickerson.

Phillip is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Teresa (Pitt) Dickerson; his Children, Kelly (Alex) Anderson, Leah (Blake) Satterfield and Wade (Nikki) Dickerson; his cherished Grandchildren: Dhruv, Sylvie, Webb, and Graham. He also leaves behind honorary Grandchildren Caroline, Olivia, Anne Marie, Ava, and Haynes. He is lovingly remembered by his Brothers Jerry (Mary) Dickerson and Randy (Leslie) Dickerson, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.

A proud graduate of Trousdale County High School, Class of 1972, Phillip went on to earn a degree in Plant and Soil Science from Tennessee Tech University. For 40 years, he worked as a licensed professional soil scientist across Middle Tennessee and was a dedicated member and at one point the president of the Soil Scientist Association of Tennessee.

On March 17, 1979, Phillip married the love of his life, Teresa. They built a loving home in Hartsville where they raised their three children. An avid outdoorsman in his younger years, Phillip loved hunting and hiking the hills near his childhood home. He loved vacationing with his family, the Tennessee Titans, and his barn that he decorated for his family to enjoy. Later in life, he found great joy in cooking and was known for his Sunday night family dinners - a tradition that brought his loved ones together week after week. He found a passion for traveling out West and spoke so fondly of those trips with his family even in his last days. Phillip's greatest passion was his family. He lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering love and a servant's heart. His kindness, generosity and faith were evident in everything he did. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 11 AM Friday, July 18, 2025 conducted by Bro. Sammy Earps and Bro. Drew Byers. Honorary Pallbearers: Jerry & Randy Dickerson and Dean Gregory. Active Pallbearers: Blake Satterfield, Alex Anderson, Dan, Andrew and Kevin Dickerson, Jon Cunningham, Timmy Tomlinson and Mike Pitt. Interment will be in the Dixon Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 8 PM Thursday and 9 AM until service time at 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Creekside Fellowship, 101 Harsh Lane, Castalian Springs, TN 37031.

To all the Dickerson family,

It was with great sadness we learned of Phillip´s passing. We are reminded that he is now basking in heaven with a new body with no aches or pains, and for that we are very thankful. I know you have wonderful memories that will be of great comfort in the days to come.

I think I am one of 3 who had the privilege of going through all 12 grades with Phillip..... so lots of years and lots of stories. I´m most thankful for the conversation we were allowed to engage in at our last class reunion. He quickly recalled how blessed we were to have grown up in a community with so much love, friendship, respect, and safety among our families. I´m certain he carried all of those with him throughout his lifetime.

Praying for all of you.
