Phillip A. Hess, III, age 66, of Rocky Mount, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, at his home. He was born February 17, 1959, son of the late P.A. and Louella (Ratcliff) Hess. On August 5, 1996, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Chris (Spencer) Hess. Phillip was employed as an outside feed salesman and later as a Miller County Deputy Sheriff. Known for his sharp mind and insatiable curiosity, Phillip had a passion for building firearms and took pride in the craftsmanship and precision the work required. A lifelong learner, he was an avid researcher, always exploring a wide variety of topics with enthusiasm and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Chris, he is survived by his daughter, Angela Adams and husband Lamour of Branson, Missouri; grandson, Andrew Burris and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Limia Burris. A celebration of Phillip's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23rd, at The Legacy Barn in Versailles with Pastor Robert Ross officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at The Legacy Barn. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family in care of Chris Hess. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
