Lewis E. Strange

Lewis Strange passed away Monday, August 11, 2025 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born March 12, 1946, to Gaylord and Lela Mae (Tompkins) Strange. He attended School of the Osage in Lake Ozark, Missouri. He married Kay Curtis July 4, 1964, and they had two children, Tami and Rick. He became a locomotive engineer for the Rock Island Railroad, a career he thoroughly enjoyed and often told stories about to his family and friends. March 23, 1978, he married Karen Campbell of Versailles and their adventures began. They jeeped the mountains of Colorado, walked the beaches of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, ate Cajun seafood in New Orleans and lobbied the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C. He was a registered Lobbyist for MoFed and enjoyed politics and political campaigns. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Lela Mae Strange, and his brother, James Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; daughter Tami (Ed) Tucker of Eldon, Missouri; son, Rick (Jill) Strange of Imperial, Missouri; grandchildren Samantha ( J.W.) Schneider of Seattle, Washington, Kevin (Rachel) Tucker of St. Louis, Missouri, Eric ( Hanna) Tucker of Eldon, Missouri, Alison Strange and Natalie Strange of Imperial, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Arlo Tucker and Leona Tucker of Eldon, Missouri; his little Shih Tzu, Kinzi along with many relatives and friends. Lewis loved his family dearly and was so proud of the accomplishments of each child and grandchild. He enjoyed reading along with audible books, traveling, photography and women's pro basketball. He and his wife, Karen, owned Artpho Gallery in Osage Beach for 35 years where Lewis was well known for his photographs of the lake which are in collections throughout the nation. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 15th, at the First Christian Church in Versailles with Pastor Jeff Spielman officiating. Interment will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Versailles. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
