Phillip Lewandowski Obituary

Phillip "Phil" James Lewandowski

Phillip "Phil" James Lewandowski, age 73, of Toledo, passed away peacefully in his home, Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was the son of Max Lewandowski and Ann Kubiak born and raised in Toledo. Phil graduated from Macomber High School in 1969. Immediately following high school he went to work for Hammill Manufacturing where he started his NTMA apprenticeship for a tool & die journeyman's card. He received his journeyman's card in 1973. Phil worked for Hammill from the summer of 1969 until he retired in September of 2020 after over 50 years of dedicated service to Hammill. During his time as a skilled journeyman he trained 100's of other young men including his own son who today practices the trade. Phil enjoyed mentoring all the younger generations and teaching them all the tricks of the trade.

Phil was a die-hard Michigan Wolverine football fan. He was an avid lover of the outside. In his downtime he could be found walking Wildwood with Nena, out fishing, attending the seniors golf tournament or just manicuring his lawn waiting for his many deer friends to arrive in his backyard. Phil was never one to sit still and when the outside was not an option he would visit his favorite watering hole, Rumors, take in a concert, or hit the casino. He loved to bake and feed others, he always had a new recipe to try and those that worked for him benefited often from his culinary skills. If Phil was not working, he was LIVING HIS BEST LIFE. He always had a joke or a story for anyone that would listen. Phil enjoyed more than anything his role as grandpa to his four amazing grandchildren, he never missed an opportunity to support them in what they did. He found great joy in teaching them how to shoot the bb gun or hold a pool stick or even how to play slots in his basement man cave. He was a hard worker, a strong man with a kind soul, loyal friend, loved his dogs, but most of all a proud father of his children, grandchildren and best friend to his significant other, Nena, they did everything together in their 23 plus years.

Phil is survived by his loving family, significant other, Nena; daughter, Karen (Jeff) Vickerman; son, Brian (Heather) Lewandowski; grandchildren, Alexys, Kate, Zachary, Alec; and sister, Rosalie Shine. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Scott Kunkel; and his many four-legged babies who will be greeting him at the bridge.

GO BLUE!!!

Jim and I are so very sad to hear of Phil's passing. I, particularly, loved his stories and jokes he would share with us at Rumor's. I knew him to be a kind, gentle man who loved Nena and his family very much. The world needs more men like Phil. Will be donating to my favorite St. Jude on his behalf. Looking forward to seeing you again some day, kind soul.
