Phillip Merril Whichard

Phillip Merrill Whichard, Jr., 78, of High Point, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on

November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 19, 1947, in Newport News, Virginia, Phillip was the son of the late Phillip

Merrill Whichard, Sr. and Margeurite Entzminger Whichard. In addition to his parents, he

was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Amanda, and sister, Rhonda Whichard.

Phillip proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was a member of

the Strategic Air Command stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. His years of

service reflected the same sense of duty, discipline, and honor that he carried throughout his life.

A man of many trades and talents, Phillip's career journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling. He

served as a fireman for the High Point Fire Department, worked for Lowe's Hardware, and

built a respected reputation in electrical work, real estate development, and construction. His

strong work ethic and hands-on skill were matched only by his integrity and his willingness to

help others. He was a graduate of Sumner High School in 1965, Greensboro, NC.

Phillip will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and steadfast devotion to family and

friends. He took pride in a life built on service-both to his country and his community-and

found joy in sharing time, laughter, and stories with those he loved.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Audrey Whichard; his son, Phillip Merrill Whichard III

of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his sisters, Cathy Jackson of Georgetown, Texas, Pam Idol

(James) of Rocky Point, North Carolina, and Pat Brinkley of Gibsonville, North Carolina;

his brother, Mark Whichard (Rhonda) of Greensboro, North Carolina; and several loving

nieces and nephews.

Phillip's family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with loved ones who went before

him, and that his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who

knew him.

Phillip Memorial Service will be Wednesday November 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM. At South Elm- Eugene Baptist Church at 4212 South Elm-Eugene Street Greensboro NC 27406.
