Phillip Edward Word

Phillip Edward Word, age 73 of Bearden peacefully passed away from this life surrounded by family and friends at his home in Bearden Wednesday, February 23, 2022. He was a longtime resident and business owner in Fordyce and Bearden. Phil loved his family and friends. He was a car collector and member of a local car club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, working on his cars, and occasional rounds of golf. Most of all he loved serving his many friends and customers of the clothing and convenience store that he operated with his loving mother Betty Word.
Phil is survived by his mother, Betty Word of Bearden; three children, Mark (Michelle) Word, Drew (Veronica) Word and Tracy (Jason) Langdon; grandchildren, Carson Langdon, Kate Langdon, Griffin Word, and Nicholas Doty; three nephews, Steven (Kelly) Word, Andrew (Heather) Word, Matthew (Ashley) Word; one niece, Rebekah (Daniel) Castleberry. Phil is preceded in death by his father, J.E. Word and one brother, Steve Word.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Friday at Moss Hill Cemetery in Bearden with Pastor Steven Word officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. To sign the online register visit www.bentonfuneralhome.net.
