Our beautiful girl, Phiona Fern Granbois began her journey on April 19, 2023 at her home in Williston, ND. She was our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and aunty.
Phiona was born March 10, 2000 in Wolf Point, MT to Wenona Sloan and Phillip "Beasty" Granbois. She joined her big brother Raven Sloan Clark and soon welcomed brothers and sister, Phillip Granbois IV, Sydney Granbois, Jake Granbois, and Dillon Granbois.
Phiona was a kind soul. She was a little mother hen, always protecting, watching over, and worrying about everyone, friends, siblings, and relatives. She began her education in Wolf Point Elementary school and then Poplar for middle school and high school. While in high school, she was part of the Dakota language program that travelled to Minneapolis to compete. In school she had some great friends. As she got older one of the funniest things was to hear her and her sister get together and share the funny things they and their friends did.
In May of 2018 she met Hailey Fourstar, of Portland, OR. From this meeting, Phiona didn't only get a partner and best friend but we gained a daughter and sister. The lived together in Wolf Point and Poplar until moving to Williston in 2019. Even though they decided not to continue their relationship, they remained best friends and never went too long without their phone calls.
In May of 2019, Phiona began working at Albertsons, where she remained employed as a frozen supervisor at the time of her passing. She enjoyed her job but what made it worth it was her coworkers, they were more like another family to her. When not working, Phiona enjoyed playing games online. She made friends there that cared for her so much. She was welcomed with open arms and they loved her for simply being herself. Despite the distances between them, they were some of her closest friends. It wasn't the easiest thing for her to meet people but once you were her friend, she never forgot you.
Phiona is survived by her parents, Wenona (Angel) Sloan and Beasty Granbois III; sister, Sydney (Sash) Granbois; brothers, Raven (Malia) Sloan-Clark, Phillip H. Granbois IV, and Dillon J. Granbois; grandparents, Darlene (David) Follette, Gary and Michelle Sloan of Vancouver, WA, and Pauline Granbois; great grandparents, Dennis and Flora Follette of Helena, MT; aunts, Meredith (Kirby) Granbois of New Town, ND, Andrea Sloan, Lena Clark; uncles, Mitchell (Natasha) Clark, Jr., Calvin (Kelly) Clark and Loren Clark; as well as numerous cousins, aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and grandparents.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Jake Granbois; uncles, Clifford Granbois and Darrell Christian; grandparents, Phillip H. Granbois, and Mitchell Clark, Sr.; great grandparents, Carmelita and Robert Lambert, Elbira and George Sloan, Alice Lester Longtree, and Clarence Longtree, Sr., Beulah and Phillip Harris Granbois, Sr.
If we left anyone out, it was not intentional.
A wake will be held on Monday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m. all at the New Wolf Point Community Hall. Interment will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery.
