Phoebe Scholes Bird, 91, of Tendoy, Idaho passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, January 15, 2026.

She was born May 26, 1934, in Rigby, Idaho. Her parents were Alvin and Lavon Scholes. She was the 4th of 7 children. She graduated from Rigby High School in 1952. She attended Ricks College for one year.

Phoebe worked as a bookkeeper for the Jefferson Co-Op before marrying Ancel Leroy Bird on October 20, 1954, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They farmed and ranched together for 23 years in Monteview, Idaho, and then 35 years in Tendoy, Idaho. She continued living and working on the ranch for another 13 years after his death.

She enjoyed gardening and always had many beautiful flowers in her yard. She enjoyed watching the children and grandchildren playing sports and various activities. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and violin.

She was an active lifetime member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a firm testimony of its truthfulness. She served in numerous positions including: organist, chorister, gospel doctrine teacher, Young Women and Primary President, Stake Family History leader and music coordinator. While she enjoyed each calling, her favorite callings were working with the youth and children.

She is survived by seven children, Kathryn Bird, Kyle Bird, Kelly Bird and Kaylene (Kevin) Ramsey, all of Tendoy. Kent (Lisa) Bird and Kurt (Jan) Bird of Leadore. Kris (Alicia) Bird of Salmon. A sister Doris Hill of Ucon and brother Von (Rose) Scholes of Chubbuck. She has 24 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Lavon Scholes, husband A. Leroy Bird, sister Virginia (Albert) Stuart, brother Harold (Gen) Scholes, brother-in law Clyde Hill, sister LaRue (LaRelle) Sutton, one infant sister; grandson Daniel Kyle Bird, daughter-in-law Brenda Foster Bird and great grandson Tate Raymond.

Funeral services will be January 23, 2026 at 11:00 at the Leadore LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45, prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Milo Cemetery.
